Albuquerque Public Schools is proud to support Rio Grande High School’s Agriculture and Nutrition Internship Summer Program. This program allows Rio Grande students of all backgrounds to explore agricultural careers while learning life skills not typically found in the classroom. Interns traveled and worked throughout Central New Mexico, stopping at places such as the Historic Hubble House, the Albuquerque Zoo, Old Town Farms, Santa Fe Community College, and Desert Verde Farms, expanding their knowledge in the marketing and agricultural fields. This program not only gives students a view of life outside of high school but also gives them real work experience as they earn money for the work they do.

This past Thursday (July 18, 2024), student interns hosted their final exhibition, showcasing what they learned over the nearly two-month long summer program. Students demonstrated their nutritional and culinary skills, cooking a spectacular brunch for friends and family. Organizations  such as El Centro De La Raza from UNM, One Albuquerque, and Bank On also attended the event providing scholarship information, internship/job information, and banking and financial information.
